D.W. Field
Brockton’s Patron

Daniel Waldo Field was a Brockton farmer and industrialist. He made his fortunes first as a dairy farmer and later as a manufacturer in Brockton’s booming shoe industry in the first half of the twentieth century. Field donated over 700 acres to the city of Brockton and hired the finest outdoor design specialists of his day to execute his vision. D.W.Field Park opened in 1925. Families, runners, walkers, picnic-ers, cyclists, fishermen, golfers and native wildlife have been enjoying it ever since.

Long a haven for Brockton citizens needing a break from the bustle and noise of city life, today’s park boasts a popular 18 hole public golf course and the acclaimed Fuller Craft Museum. The park’s natural beauty lies in its forests, ponds and wetlands and the miles of quiet paths and roads that traverse it.

D.W.Field was an environmentalist before the term existed and “Field’s Park” is his idyllic legacy. Our race is named in his honor. Visit Field’s Park at: flickr.com and dwfieldpark.com

Dave Regan
Our Inspiration

Dave Regan was a long time Brocktonian.  He was a husband, father of four, and a business owner.  But many knew Dave because he RAN!  He believed that fitness was a lifelong persuit - and he also knew it should be fun.  Dave loved the camaraderie of the New England running community and he inspired and mentored runners thoughout the area.  Whether running with a few of his running club buddies in the part or joining thousands for the Falmouth Road Race, Dave was in his element.

Dave ran regularly until he hit his seventies.  Soon after, he became seriously ill.  When he could no longer run, Dave continued to visit his beloved Field's Park just to walk.

Dave Regan had an indomitable spirit, an enthusiam for life and a dedication to running and fitness.  We run the D.W. Field Triathlon in his memory.
